CoolSim 5.4.180

What changed in CoolSim 5.4.180 since CoolSim 5.4.177. It was never a download of its own: it reached customers inside the previews below, starting with preview 2 on October 2, 2026, and every preview carries these changes.

Changed

Can make a model solve to a different answer than before.

OK in the Room Editor skipped re-fitting the room

CoolSim 5.4.180 made OK in the Room Editor quicker when the room’s length, width and external-flow setting are unchanged, which matters most in external-flow models, where rebuilding the room took a long time. By mistake, it also skipped the step that fits objects to a changed floor, ceiling or plenum and works out rack, server and PDU airflows again for a changed air density, on every OK. Preview 12 keeps the quicker OK and puts that step back: see The Room Editor re-fits the room on every OK.

New

Rotate a PDU from its editor

The PDU editor has a Rotate button. Each click turns the PDU a quarter turn clockwise, and its supplies and returns turn with it.

Reverse a PDU's airflow from its editor

The PDU editor has a Reverse Flow Direction button. It turns the PDU’s airflow around, so a unit placed facing the wrong way blows the other way without being moved or rebuilt. The reversed direction reaches the solver.

Improved

Negative sizes are refused

A negative length, width or height typed into the editor for a rack row, tile row, block, grille, cable cutout, PDU or velocity inlet or outlet is ignored, and the object keeps the size it had. A negative start point for a cable cutout, or a negative spacing between racks, becomes 0. A room’s length and width must be more than 0.

A baffle’s negative end points also became 0, which kept a baffle placed by its end points from reaching down into a raised floor. Preview 12 fixed that: see Baffles placed by end points reach into a raised floor.

Plug-fan outlets carry their cooling unit's name

The plug-fan outlets of a cooling unit go to the solver named after the unit, in place of a number for its place in the room’s list of cooling units. The job file also has room for up to 10 plug fans on one cooling unit, up from 7.
